Staithes Festival of Arts and Heritage

Staithes Festival of Arts & Heritage has established itself as one of the friendliest festivals on the Yorkshire coast — a must-see weekend in the regional arts calendar.

Step inside a village like no other as the doors of cottages are thrown open, transforming Staithes into a trail of pop-up art galleries showcasing painting, print, ceramics, textiles, sculpture, photography and more.

Alongside the open studios, enjoy a programme celebrating Staithes’ rich history and heritage, including walks, talks, photographs and film shows.

Location: Staithes — 11 miles north of Whitby (TS13 5BH)

< Back to Artists

As a painter & sculptor, the common thread in my work is an endeavour to capture the spirit of things or places I have known, to seek to illuminate aspects of the world that have captured my imagination – to evoke feeling. Cardiff born and now based in Nottinghamshire, my work has won several Awards, including the Attenborough Prize (2024/22), Paint Out Norfolk (2022/20), and the Thoresby Open (2017/15/11). I also appeared on Sky TV’s ‘Landscape Artist of the Year’ – as a wild card winner in 2021, shortlisted ‘pod’ contestant in 2022, and Finalist in the 10th series in 2025.

Venue: Ocean View, High Barrass
