Staithes Festival of Arts and Heritage

Staithes Festival of Arts & Heritage has established itself as one of the friendliest festivals on the Yorkshire coast — a must-see weekend in the regional arts calendar.

Step inside a village like no other as the doors of cottages are thrown open, transforming Staithes into a trail of pop-up art galleries showcasing painting, print, ceramics, textiles, sculpture, photography and more.

Alongside the open studios, enjoy a programme celebrating Staithes’ rich history and heritage, including walks, talks, photographs and film shows.

Location: Staithes — 11 miles north of Whitby (TS13 5BH)

In my practice I hope to convey a narrative of stillness and introspection. I use muted colours and gentle forms to create a space of tranquility and contemplation. By stripping away the superfluous I reveal the inherent beauty of the landscape and the vernacular which serves as a quiet refuge from the chaos of modern life. I have a Masters degree in Fine Art from the University of Galway, Ireland and the Burren College of Art, Co. Clare, Ireland. I currently live in East Yorkshire.

Venue: The Fishermans Cottage, Gun Gutter

Medium: Landscape. Oil on canvas
