Staithes Festival of Arts and Heritage

Staithes Festival of Arts & Heritage has established itself as one of the friendliest festivals on the Yorkshire coast — a must-see weekend in the regional arts calendar.

Step inside a village like no other as the doors of cottages are thrown open, transforming Staithes into a trail of pop-up art galleries showcasing painting, print, ceramics, textiles, sculpture, photography and more.

Alongside the open studios, enjoy a programme celebrating Staithes’ rich history and heritage, including walks, talks, photographs and film shows.

Fran Brammer

< Back to Artists

Fran has always played with cloth, loving its variety, physicality and versatility . After a digression into Art and Design education she has rediscovered freehand machine stitching allowing her to draw freely onto the fabric creating images to share personal experiences and histories of familiar landscapes. The images are made using found or salvaged fabrics, by building up multiple layers, then cutting them away revealing forgotten surfaces, colours, edges and textures. Fran lives and works in York, producing work for commission, sale and exhibition individually or with the York Textile Artists, hosting private workshops and for the Viking Loom Ltd.

Venue: The Old Chapel, High St, Staithes. TS13 5BQ
