Staithes Festival of Arts and Heritage

Staithes Festival of Arts & Heritage has established itself as one of the friendliest festivals on the Yorkshire coast — a must-see weekend in the regional arts calendar.

Step inside a village like no other as the doors of cottages are thrown open, transforming Staithes into a trail of pop-up art galleries showcasing painting, print, ceramics, textiles, sculpture, photography and more.

Alongside the open studios, enjoy a programme celebrating Staithes’ rich history and heritage, including walks, talks, photographs and film shows.

Kit Hemsley

< Back to Artists

Living and working in Runswick Bay, Kit creates work deeply rooted in the coastline's timeless beauty and its ever-changing forms. The ebb and flow of tides, the sculpting power of wind and water, and the interplay of textures and colours in the natural landscape inspire every piece created. Every item is a unique expression of a very personal connection to the land and sea. Kit’s work is sometimes functional, often sculptural but always visually exciting. The processes used mean all her work is as individual as a fingerprint.

Venue: Anchor Cove, Seaton Garth

Medium: Ceramics and jewellery
