Staithes Festival of Arts and Heritage

Staithes Festival of Arts & Heritage has established itself as one of the friendliest festivals on the Yorkshire coast — a must-see weekend in the regional arts calendar.

Step inside a village like no other as the doors of cottages are thrown open, transforming Staithes into a trail of pop-up art galleries showcasing painting, print, ceramics, textiles, sculpture, photography and more.

Alongside the open studios, enjoy a programme celebrating Staithes’ rich history and heritage, including walks, talks, photographs and film shows.

I make sculptures to go indoors, outdoors, do commissions and sometimes work in schools. I use quite a lot of junk metal in my work, the shapes of the original objects inspire sculptures of birds, animals, people, robots, clocks, in fact anything really. The ideas come from cartoons, children’s books, tv programmes and anywhere.

Venue: Roraima House, 40 Staithes Lane, TS13 5AD

Medium: Metal sculpture
